Chinese Medicine
The history of traditional Chinese
medicine goes back around 5,000 years. It is based on investigation and the
analysis of clinical patterns of health and diagnostics.
Imbalances are figured out by how the person feels, the tone of the pulse,
the look of the tongue and skin color.
If a person has no pain or discomfort, has a strong physical build, is
spirited, has a good appetite, sleeps well and does a reasonable amount of
exercise, they are considered to be healthy. Symptoms that are at odds with
these factors are considered disease or ‘clinical patterns,’ which are
reactions to disease.
Just as in Chinese medicine history a traditional Chinese medicine
professional will deal with these symptoms or clinical patterns with tools
such as herbs, food therapy, acupuncture, cupping, Tuina (therapeutic
massage) and Amoxibustion.
Good health in Chinese medicine means your
tongue is a pinkish color with a thin white coating and normal texture, the
pulse beats five times per breath and at a consistent, even rate, rhythm and
strength.
